New at the Vineyard
We are now taking reservations for our 2013 Chardonnay Ice Wine due to be released Summer of 2015. With only a 350 bottle production it is certain to go fast.
Harvested and pressed at 10 degrees F in late December 2013. It was then cold fermented for 8 weeks to 11.5% ABV with 17 brix residual sugar.
Upon completion of fermentation the Ice Wine was put into our signature oak imitation barrels to age for 14 months.
Due to varietal as well as pores barrel aging and a dash of oak our Ice Wine is like no other.

A Rare Pleasure: Persimmon Wine
Vermilion Valley Vineyards is the only known vineyard in Ohio that produces persimmon wine. The persimmon is a sweet, edible fruit that is actually a berry. Our persimmon wine is moderately sweet, delicately flavored and scented and made from the American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) -- not the less flavorful acorn-shaped or similarly large, rounder-shaped Asian varieties that are occasionally seen in grocery stores.
Our fruit comes from just three trees — enough to produce about 100 gallons of wine per year. It, like our other fruit wines, makes a fine apéritif.
